South Bay Art Association kicked off its 2nd Annual Plein Air Event on Saturday, July 16.
The event brought out many seasoned artists and newbies alike to the Bellport Village Marina to enjoy the summer day.
En Plein Air, “in the open air,” captures the spirit of the artist’s view, using natural light, color, and visual movement. This year’s event covers the areas East Patchogue, Hagerman, Bellport and Brookhaven Hamlet for the artists to find their inspiration.
Artists have from July 16 to 28 to create their pieces.
The completed artwork will be on exhibit and for sale during Bellport Day on Saturday, July 30, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. in Bellport Village. Local artists and curators will judge the artwork for First, Second, Third Place, and Honorable Mention, where prizes donated by local businesses will be awarded.
