About the artist

I am a painter and printmaker from eastern Long Island. My work consists of images that express my surroundings, including still life, figure, plein air landscape in oil, acrylic and watercolor.

At heart, I am a formalist, so color and composition are important. Media include monotype, etching, wood cuts, calligraphy, artists books, handmade paper. I studied with Pete Klotz, watercolorist of Westhampton Beach, and drawing with Van Howell, internationally known illustrator.

I have a BA from Stony Brook, in art history & studio. A big influence there was life drawing with Robert White, sculptor. I got art teaching credentials from Southampton College & CW Post, where I studied drawing with Stan Brodsky. I have traveled internationally and studied printmaking in Florence, Italy, with Dan Welden. I got my MFA from CW Post, Long Island University, where I studied printmaking with Richard K. Mills.

Along the way I took graphic design courses; I learned to use Adobe programs so I could get income from freelance work. Teaching over 30 years included K-12 & adjunct at many L.I. colleges.

I exhibit locally and nationally, and also curate small group shows.
